Police were up to late yesterday searching for a man who indecently assaulted a ten-year-old schoolgirl in Cedros. A report said around 7.20 pm, the girl was at her aunt's home when a man, in his 20s, approached her and took her to a fig patch where he committed acts of serious indecency on the girl. The girl's mother told police her daughter got so scared she bit the man's hand and began to scream. She broke free of the man's clutch and ran away.
Acting Corporal Seerattan and a party of officers from the Cedros Police Station visited the area and conducted investigations. Officers said an arrest was imminent. The girl was taken to the Point Fortin Area Hospital where she underwent an examination which concluded she was not raped. Constable Mitchell is continuing investigations. (KF)
