A San Fernando magistrate yesterday assured ten men accused of being gang members, who expressed frustration over their detention, that a representative of the Director of Public Prosecutions would be in court on Thursday. The men pleaded with First Court Magistrate Alicia Chankar.
A legal representative said that the DPP's office was not in possession of the case files. Chankar said she would personally ensure that on Thursday someone from the DPP's office will be in court. The accused are Marlon Wharwood, Orel Dyer, Erickson Benjamin, Sheldon Benjamin, Kareem Kalla, Quasi Kalla, Dillon Massy, Quincy Noel and Steven Reyes. (SW)
