Transport Police head Superintendent Anthony Bernard is warning unauthorised drivers to desist from using Priority Bus Route (PBR). Bernard gave the warning during a telephone interview yesterday. Bernard said that since last Wednesday more than 564 tickets had been issued to drivers who used the route illegally. He said: "We (the Transit Police) have now adopted a zero tolerance approach to these unauthorised drivers."
Bernard added that his officers would be intensifying patrols on the route with an increased presence at major intersections. "We are not in a war with drivers, we are just doing our job to keep the PBR free of unauthorised traffic," Bernard said. "Drivers may still use the PBR between the hours of 4 am to 6 am and 8.30 am to 3 pm on weekdays provided there are three passengers in their vehicles," Bernard said.
