The Chaguanas Borough Corporation has received its long-awaited administrative complex. The announcement was made yesterday by Mayor Orlando Nagessar in an interview after yesterday's military parade through the streets of Chaguanas. The celebration marked 20 years since Chaguanas had been declared a borough. Nagessar said more than 1,000 keys were handed over to the borough to the new $70 million building.
He said employees would not be moving over to the new site in a hurry because there were still some issues of furniture needed to be sorted out. He said these issues would be sorted out in the coming weeks. The mayor had been clamouring for the new building since the Government came into power. The building was blessed on Saturday during an inter-religious service. Despite yesterday's inclement weather, military parade in Montrose went ahead as scheduled.
