Six Venezue­lan na­tion­als were ar­rest­ed yes­ter­day dur­ing a po­lice ex­er­cise at Al­fre­do Street, Wood­brook. Po­lice said the three men and three women, who had "no pa­pers," were hand­ed over to Im­mi­gra­tion of­fi­cers yes­ter­day morn­ing. Mean­while, two road­blocks were set up and sev­er­al hous­es were searched be­tween 7.30 pm on Sun­day and 2 am yes­ter­day at Ari­api­ta Av­enue and War­ren Street. A to­tal of 15 tick­ets were is­sued to mo­torists for dri­ving with­out a seat­belt, talk­ing on a cell­phone while dri­ving, dri­ving a ve­hi­cle with­out a per­mit and in­sur­ance and 11 peo­ple were ar­rest­ed on out­stand­ing war­rants. Po­lice said heavy tints were re­moved from ve­hi­cles. The ex­er­cise was led by ASP Ajith Per­sad and Cpl An­tho­ny Spence.

Of­fi­cers of the Port-of-Spain CID, Crime In­ves­ti­ga­tions and Crim­i­nal Records Of­fice took part in the ex­er­cise. In North­ern Di­vi­sion, 52 tick­et war­rants were ex­e­cut­ed, 35 peo­ple were ar­rest­ed in San­gre Grande on Sun­day night. A $2,000 tick­et al­so was is­sued to a re­porter at a dai­ly news­pa­pers on Sun­day night in San Juan. Traf­fic Branch of­fi­cers stopped the re­porter while he was trav­el­ling along the Pri­or­i­ty Bus Route around 10 pm. He was tick­et­ed for us­ing the Pri­or­i­ty Bus Route with­out a pass.
