Police arrested 140 people from the South and South Western Divisions over the weekend for offences, ranging from robbery, burglary, possession of illegal narcotics, outstanding warrants and traffic breaches. In the Southern Division, 99 people were arrested for robberies, burglaries, narcotics, breach of curfew, and driving under the influence of alcohol, while 72 others were charged with traffic-related offences.
Meanwhile, in the South Western Division, police arrested 41 people. Of these, 29 were held on warrants and 12 for narcotics. Six people were also charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. Wanted fugitive Halim Ballack was held during the exercise. Police also issued 129 traffic tickets.
