Po­lice ar­rest­ed 140 peo­ple from the South and South West­ern Di­vi­sions over the week­end for of­fences, rang­ing from rob­bery, bur­glary, pos­ses­sion of il­le­gal nar­cotics, out­stand­ing war­rants and traf­fic breach­es. In the South­ern Di­vi­sion, 99 peo­ple were ar­rest­ed for rob­beries, bur­glar­ies, nar­cotics, breach of cur­few, and dri­ving un­der the in­flu­ence of al­co­hol, while 72 oth­ers were charged with traf­fic-re­lat­ed of­fences.

Mean­while, in the South West­ern Di­vi­sion, po­lice ar­rest­ed 41 peo­ple. Of these, 29 were held on war­rants and 12 for nar­cotics. Six peo­ple were al­so charged with dri­ving un­der the in­flu­ence of al­co­hol. Want­ed fugi­tive Hal­im Bal­lack was held dur­ing the ex­er­cise. Po­lice al­so is­sued 129 traf­fic tick­ets.
