A Cedros man was jailed for 18 months with hard labour on Monday for possession of marijuana. Point Fortin Magistrate Indrani Cedeno also sentenced Peter Mc Intosh to two months in jail with hard labour for resisting arrest. He pleaded guilty to both charges. Noting that Mc Intosh had a previous conviction for possession of marijuana, Cedeno asked: "You made a jail term for marijuana and now you're here again?" Mc Intosh replied: "Well ma'am, I does smoke."
Prosecutor Ag Insp Johnaton Gunness told the court on October 14 PC Khaleed was on mobile patrol in Cedros when he saw the defendant walking along Pierre Road. He said Mc Intosh looked in the direction of the police vehicle and put his right hand in his pocket. Khaleed stopped Mc Intosh and searched him and found 13 packets of marijuana in his possession. When Mc Intosh was being arrested, he struggled with the police officers. Mc Intosh claimed the officers were causing him to become indecently exposed. He said they wanted him to pull down his pants, threw him to the ground and began beating him while he was almost naked.
