Bar pa­trons ig­nor­ing po­lice warn­ings and con­tin­u­ing to have a mer­ry time were even­tu­al­ly ar­rest­ed for break­ing cur­few on Fri­day night in San Fer­nan­do. In an ex­er­cise co­or­di­nat­ed by ACP Fitzroy Fred­er­icks and Se­nior Su­per­in­ten­dent De­o­dat Du­lalchan, po­lice de­tained 24 peo­ple-ages 19 to 41 years.

Po­lice said 20 of those held were picked up at a pop­u­lar San Fer­nan­do bar: Char­lie's on Point-a-Pierre Road. Four oth­ers were caught at bars on High Street and Cof­fee Street. The ex­er­cise was su­per­vised by In­spec­tor Charles and ex­e­cut­ed by act­ing Sergeant Ram­jee­wan, act­ing Sergeant Skel­ly, act­ing cor­po­ral Burke and of­fi­cers of the San Fer­nan­do Sta­tion. Those held are ex­pect­ed to ap­pear be­fore a San Fer­nan­do Mag­is­trate to­mor­row.
