Tu­na­puna po­lice yes­ter­day ques­tioned the man who poi­soned over 2,000 av­o­ca­dos. Sun­day Guardian learnt that po­lice have tak­en sam­ples of the av­o­ca­dos for test­ing from the man's es­tate.At­tempt­ing to ward off thieves, the man in­ject­ed the av­o­ca­dos with an in­sec­ti­cide. Since the in­ci­dent, av­o­ca­do sup­pli­ers/ven­dors are reel­ing in dis­tress due to a drop in sales.

The most re­cent is St James sup­pli­er Ros­alind Cox who claims she lost $10,000 in av­o­ca­dos due to no sales. Cox im­ports av­o­ca­dos from Grena­da and they are sold to the Hi-Lo stores.Yes­ter­day, Cox fumed: "Hi-Lo has pulled all the av­o­ca­dos off the shelf. I have about 21 box­es in my garage. Some are rot­ting. It is un­fair."She called up­on Agri­cul­ture Min­is­ter Vas­ant Bharath to pro­vide her with some form of com­pen­sa­tion.
