Police are continuing investigations into the poisoning of some 2,000 avocados at a Tunapuna estate.
Officers were expected to go to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) yesterday for instructions. Last week, a man turned himself over to police after injecting the insecticide, cypro, into hundreds of avocados.
The man claimed that was retaliation after repeated instances of praedial larceny at the estate.
Since then avocados have been removed from the shelves in certain supermarkets and market vendors have reported a drop in sales. Last weekend saw the price of avocados dropping from over $20 to $6 for one at the Tunapuna market.
