Po­lice are con­tin­u­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions in­to the poi­son­ing of some 2,000 av­o­ca­dos at a Tu­na­puna es­tate.

Of­fi­cers were ex­pect­ed to go to the Of­fice of the Di­rec­tor of Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tions (DPP) yes­ter­day for in­struc­tions. Last week, a man turned him­self over to po­lice af­ter in­ject­ing the in­sec­ti­cide, cypro, in­to hun­dreds of av­o­ca­dos.

The man claimed that was re­tal­i­a­tion af­ter re­peat­ed in­stances of prae­di­al lar­ce­ny at the es­tate.

Since then av­o­ca­dos have been re­moved from the shelves in cer­tain su­per­mar­kets and mar­ket ven­dors have re­port­ed a drop in sales. Last week­end saw the price of av­o­ca­dos drop­ping from over $20 to $6 for one at the Tu­na­puna mar­ket.
