Former media mogul Kenneth Gordon is expected to be sworn in this morning as the new chairman of the Integrity Commission. President George Maxwell Richards is expected to preside over the short and simple ceremony at Knowsley, Queen's Park West, Port-of-Spain, at 9 am today. Several Government sources said yesterday Gordon was the choice of the Kamla Persad-Bissessar administration. Former chairman of the commission, Eric St Cyr, resigned earlier this month after objections to his leadership of the commission.
Among the many who called for St Cyr's resignation were Works and Infrastructure Minister, Jack Warner, and Housing and the Environment Minister Dr Roodal Moonilal. Moonilal had said St Cyr should consider resigning because he told the media Housing Development Corporation's (HDC) managing director, Jearlean John, was being investigated without first informing her of the probe. Gordon served as Minister of Trade and Industry under the former National Alliance for Reconstruction Government.
