A Maraval resident was sentenced yesterday to nine months in prison with hard labour after pleading guilty to stealing five schoolbags. Richard Felix, 47, of Paramin Village, Maraval, pleaded guilty to the charge before Justice Gloria Jasmath in the Port-of-Spain Eleventh Magistrates' Court. He was arrested on Tuesday by Constable Dwayne John, of the Port-of-Spain City Police, while attempting to sell the bags, which were valued at $350, on Charlotte Street, Port-of-Spain. Felix, who also had several previous convictions for similar matters,confessed to the officer that he stole the bags from a store earlier that day. Felix represented himself while the matter was prosecuted by Sgt Azard Ali. (DA)
