A Mar­aval res­i­dent was sen­tenced yes­ter­day to nine months in prison with hard labour af­ter plead­ing guilty to steal­ing five school­bags. Richard Fe­lix, 47, of Paramin Vil­lage, Mar­aval, plead­ed guilty to the charge be­fore Jus­tice Glo­ria Jas­math in the Port-of-Spain Eleventh Mag­is­trates' Court. He was ar­rest­ed on Tues­day by Con­sta­ble Dwayne John, of the Port-of-Spain City Po­lice, while at­tempt­ing to sell the bags, which were val­ued at $350, on Char­lotte Street, Port-of-Spain. Fe­lix, who al­so had sev­er­al pre­vi­ous con­vic­tions for sim­i­lar mat­ters,con­fessed to the of­fi­cer that he stole the bags from a store ear­li­er that day. Fe­lix rep­re­sent­ed him­self while the mat­ter was pros­e­cut­ed by Sgt Azard Ali. (DA)
