A man­hunt is on for ten men re­port­ed­ly as­so­ci­at­ed with an Ari­ma gang fol­low­ing a phys­i­cal as­sault on a fam­i­ly last Sat­ur­day night at Pi­ar­co.Five oth­er sus­pects who were al­leged­ly in­volved in the fra­cas ap­peared be­fore an Ari­ma mag­is­trate yes­ter­day charged with us­ing ob­scene lan­guage, threat­en­ing an of­fi­cer, dis­or­der­ly con­duct, as­sault by beat­ing and oth­er of­fences.A po­lice re­port said 15 men were out­side a shop at south Pi­ar­co around 10.20 pm when they got in­to an al­ter­ca­tion with oth­er pa­trons who were await­ing de­liv­ery of food.

Dur­ing the row, the gang of men turned on a man iden­ti­fied as Fe­liz Shorab of Bam­boo Set­tle­ment, who po­lice said was al­so await­ing ser­vice.His sis­ter, Fe­li­cia Shorab, in­ter­vened and was al­so bad­ly beat­en by mem­bers of the gang.Two of their cousins, Daniel Ar­mo­gan and Shaz­iz Mo­hammed were then as­sault­ed, a re­port said.Fe­li­cia made it to her mo­tor car but was fol­lowed by the gang who threw bot­tles and stones at the ve­hi­cle.The fam­i­ly made it to the sta­tion and lodged a re­port.

They were tak­en to the Ari­ma Health Fa­cil­i­ty for med­ical at­ten­tion.While the vic­tims were at hos­pi­tal some of the sus­pects, po­lice said, went to the Pi­ar­co Po­lice Post and made a dif­fer­ent re­port claim­ing they had been robbed.In­ves­ti­gat­ing of­fi­cers said mem­bers of the gang cursed and threat­ened po­lice of­fi­cers who were in the charge room. The men were tak­en in­to cus­tody.De­tec­tives said the US Em­bassy will be ad­vised as one of the sus­pects is an Amer­i­can cit­i­zen.PC Christien De­lando is con­tin­u­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions.
