A police corporal attached to the Scarborough Police Station appeared in the Scarborough Magistrates' Court yesterday charged with misbehaviour in public office and knowingly and willfully surrendering a firearm and ammunition belonging to the Police Service. Corporal Cecil Boogsin John was not called upon to plea when he appeared before Senior Magistrate Annette Mckenzie.
John, of Belle Garden, who had been in charge of the property room of the Scarborough Police Station, is accused of giving someone a loaded 9mm pistol last October 3.He was granted bail in the sum of $100,000.Two other officers from the Scarborough Police Station are on suspension and are before the court on a similar offence, allegedly committed in 2009.Sergeant Gishwan, of the Anti Corruption Bureau, laid the charges.
