Opposition Leader Dr Keith Rowley says he supports the appointment of businessman Kenneth Gordon as the new chairman of the Integrity Commission.He said he was confident Gordon would do a good job."I have every confidence he will measure up to the requirements of the assignment given to him," Rowley stressed.Gordon assumes the new position today.
Meanwhile, the Integrity Commission has written to Opposition Senator Fitzgerald Hinds saying he must provide the evidence for any probe of Works and Infrastructure Minister Jack Warner.Hinds said the probe was with respect to alleged wrong-doing in Warner's capacity as a vice president of world football governing body, FIFA.He said that during a news conference at the Office of the Opposition Leader, Port-of-Spain, yesterdayHinds gave the media copies of the October 18, 2011 letter, which said in part:
"The Integrity Commission had considered the matter and proposes to close same unless you can provide us, within 14 days of the receipt of this request, evidence/information in order to support an investigation."Hinds said he would be responding to the commission, seeking clarification of the letter's contents. He said the evidence was in the public domain and the commission had the resources to avail itself of it. (RL)
