Veteran journalist Dennis McComie successfully produced a mega production last Tuesday at Queen's Hall, featuring some of the nation's brightest stars, including Shadow, Denyse Plummer, Mungal Patasar and Pantar, Malick Folk Performers, Ella Andall, The Lydians, Eddie Cumberbatch, Wendell Constantine, Dave Williams, Muhammad Muwakil, Cecilia Salazar, Orange Sky, Rizon and a list that read off like a Who's Who in the performing business. On an evening of excellence, informed by a most impressive and comprehensive printed programme, Mc Comie honoured a plethora of cultural icons, like Aubrey Adams, Mairoon Ali, Pat Bishop, Wayne Berkeley, Allyson Hennessy, and Murice Connor, as well as departed luminaries like Sir Ellis Clarke, Prof Kenny Julien, Prof Rex Nettleford, Keith Smith and former Carib Queen Valentina Medina.
He also honoured well over 100 outstanding citizens and families. The Goodwill Gathering, which was actually a gala charity benefit and honour performance, was a moment all of Trinidad & Tobago should have been privy too, and one can only hope that the production will be shown on national television, as well as via cable globally.
