A probe into TTEC's street-lighting project and in many other projects has indicated there are grounds that suggests misconduct in public office, Attorney General Anand Ramlogan has said. Replying to an Opposition question in the Lower House yesterday. Ramlogan said Government paid $34.6 million to seven local, UK and Canadian experts to undertake eight probes concerning State agencies. Those included T&TEC, the Sport Company of T&T, Petrotrin, Nidco, E-tech, UTT and the Scarborough Hospital, he said. He said HDC was not investigated at that time.
Ramlogan said the T&TEC probe came on the heels of an audit done under the PNM's tenure. He said it was revealed that in T&TEC's street-lighting project and in many other projects undertaken, there were grounds that suggested misconduct and malfeasance in public office. The T&TEC probe would be completed next March as would be a probe into the Scarborough Hospital, the AG said. Ramlogan said the Nidco probe into the purchase of the mv Su was completed and the SportCo and UTT probes also were completed. The Petrotrin probe on the gas to liquid plant also was done, he said.
