Po­lice were called in­to a sec­ondary school in San Fer­nan­do yes­ter­day af­ter a male teacher was as­sault­ed by a stu­dent.Re­ports stat­ed that dur­ing class­es around 11 am, a male stu­dent walked up to the math­e­mat­ics and physics teacher and slapped him sev­er­al times.

Sources said the teacher im­me­di­ate­ly pro­ceed­ed to a se­nior school of­fi­cial af­ter which a re­port was made to the po­lice.Of­fi­cers spent hours coun­selling the stu­dent who is ex­pect­ed to face sus­pen­sion from school. No charges are ex­pect­ed to be laid.

In Sep­tem­ber, two Form Three stu­dents of a San Fer­nan­do school were tak­en to hos­pi­tal af­ter an al­leged bru­tal as­sault at the hands of a school­mate.A 14-year-old stu­dent is now be­fore the San Fer­nan­do Mag­is­trates' Court charged with that of­fence.
