A Williamsville man charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm on a retired policeman has been denied bail. Khooblal Fournillier, 30, was not called upon to plead when he appeared before Deputy Chief Magistrate Rajendra Rambachan in the San Fernando First Court on Thursday. It is alleged that on Monday at Eccles Village, Williamsville, he was involved in an altercation with Khublal Ramdial, 60, of Iere Village, Princes Town, who fell and hit his head.
Fournillier was charged by Sgt Steve Persad of the Gasparillo Police Station. Court prosecutor Sgt Rudy Ali told the court Ramdial was in critical condition, due to undergo surgery. He also said a trace of Fournillier's criminal record had not yet been done. Given the seriousness of the injury, Rambachan said he preferred to wait until after the surgery before granting bail. He adjourned the matter to November 17.
