Resh­ma Ra­goonath

A 23-year-old Tarou­ba man is fight­ing for his life af­ter be­ing stabbed dur­ing a dis­pute with a close male rel­a­tive on Sat­ur­day. De­von Ship­ley, of Raf­fique Ju­madeen Dri­ve, is list­ed in crit­i­cal con­di­tion at the In­ten­sive Care Unit of the San Fer­nan­do Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal where he is be­ing treat­ed for stab wounds to the stom­ach. A 51-year-old male rel­a­tive has been de­tained for ques­tion­ing by po­lice.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice re­ports, Ship­ley and the rel­a­tive spent Fri­day night lim­ing to­geth­er and re­turned to their Tarou­ba home around 3 am Sat­ur­day. An ar­gu­ment broke out be­tween the two and a fight en­sued. Po­lice said a man then grabbed a knife and dealt Ship­ley two stabs to the stom­ach.
