Toll climbs as Laventille man murdered in St Augustine
The murder toll climbed to 306 yesterday with the death of a 29 year old Laventille man. Dave Sampson, of Upper Pashley Street, was shot on Monday while sitting in his car at Agostini Trace in St Augustine. His death is the 40th since the state of emergency went into effect on August 21. Police said Sampson went to visit relatives around 9.50 pm on Monday. He was sitting in his vehicle when a gunman approached him.
The gunman shot him about the upper body, police said. He was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex where he died yesterday morning. Detectives said they did not know if Sampson’s shooting was planned or an attempted robbery. Investigators said he was “well known to the police.” PC Diamond of the St Joseph Police Station is continuing investigations.
