A police exercise in Laventille on Friday night has led to the arrest of two people-one a teenager-and the seizure of a home-made shotgun. A report stated that around 9 pm, officers of the Port-of-Spain Division Task Force led by Sgts Knott and Bruno were on mobile patrol in the St Barb's, Laventille area when they noticed the men walking quickly and acting suspiciously. During a search of the men the officers said they discovered a firearm and six 12-gauge shotgun cartridges.
The men were arrested and taken to the Besson Street Police Station were they are being questioned in connection with various criminal offenses that have occurred in the Laventille area in the past weeks. The men-18 and 26-are expected to appear before a Port-of-Spain Magistrate tomorrow. The illegal firearm was taken to the Forensic Science Centre, St James for ballistic analysis. Police Constable Charles is continuing investigations.
