Po­lice are seek­ing the pub­lic's help in iden­ti­fy­ing the nude body of a His­pan­ic man found float­ing in wa­ters near the Trin­mar base in Point Fortin on Tues­day evening. Homi­cide of­fi­cers sus­pect the man might be a for­eign na­tion­al, may have been killed and his body dumped in the chop­py wa­ters of the Gulf of Paria. They said the bloat­ed body might have been in the wa­ter for a few days. It is bad­ly de­com­posed and the face is not recog­nis­able. Be­cause of the dis­col­oration and state of de­com­po­si­tion, it is dif­fi­cult to iden­ti­fy any marks of vi­o­lence.

How­ev­er, po­lice were able to ob­serve that one of the joints in his right mid­dle fin­ger is miss­ing,

The body is that of a man with brown hair, and about five feet, sev­en inch­es tall. Petrotrin Trin­mar of­fi­cers on pa­trol in the area spot­ted the body around 3.51 pm on Tues­day. They con­tact­ed the Coast Guard who took the body to the Ce­dros jet­ty, where it was ex­am­ined and or­dered re­moved to the Foren­sic Sci­ence Cen­tre for an au­top­sy, pend­ing iden­ti­fi­ca­tion. Po­lice are ask­ing any­one with in­for­ma­tion lead­ing to the iden­ti­fi­ca­tion of the body to call the Ce­dros Po­lice Sta­tion at 690-1196, Homi­cide Bu­reau at 652-0495, 652-1429 or any po­lice sta­tion.
