The policeman who reportedly refused to assist a rape victim complainant at the Morvant Police Station has been served with a notice of intended disciplinary proceedings. Public information officer of the T&T Police Service, Sgt Wayne Mystar, said so at yesterday's daily news conference at the Police Administration Building, Port-of-Spain. The officer now has seven days to respond.
Last week, PNM Senator Pennelope Beckles Robinson called on National Security Minister John Sandy to investigate the baulked report. The plaintiff had gone to the station to report a criminal assault by two men. It was reported, however, that a police officer refused to allow the naked woman entry. "He was served with the notice last week. He has seven days to respond and investigations are continuing," Mystar said.
