The Opposition PNM has called on Government to say who paid the travel costs for the wife of Foreign Affairs Minister Suruj Rambachan to be part of the Prime Minister's trip to Brazil in April. PNM MP, Marlene McDonald, lodged the query during yesterday's House of Representatives session. The query followed after Mrs Rambachan's name was given by acting Information Minister Roodal Moonilal on a list of names of persons accompanying the PM to Brazil in April.
Moonilal said Mrs Rambachan had accompanied her husband, Minister Rambachan, on the delegation.
The wife of Trade Minister Stephen Cadiz was also on the team. McDonald called on Moonilal to say who footed the bill for Mrs Rambachan's travel costs. After two questions on that, Moonilal said he could not say immediately and would need to confirm. The list of names on the delegation included Ashwin Bally, CNMG reporter Juhel Browne and Rodney David and a team of business people at no cost to the Government, Moonilal said.
