The Op­po­si­tion PNM has called on Gov­ern­ment to say who paid the trav­el costs for the wife of For­eign Af­fairs Min­is­ter Su­ruj Ram­bachan to be part of the Prime Min­is­ter's trip to Brazil in April. PNM MP, Mar­lene Mc­Don­ald, lodged the query dur­ing yes­ter­day's House of Rep­re­sen­ta­tives ses­sion. The query fol­lowed af­ter Mrs Ram­bachan's name was giv­en by act­ing In­for­ma­tion Min­is­ter Roodal Mooni­lal on a list of names of per­sons ac­com­pa­ny­ing the PM to Brazil in April.

Mooni­lal said Mrs Ram­bachan had ac­com­pa­nied her hus­band, Min­is­ter Ram­bachan, on the del­e­ga­tion.

The wife of Trade Min­is­ter Stephen Cadiz was al­so on the team. Mc­Don­ald called on Mooni­lal to say who foot­ed the bill for Mrs Ram­bachan's trav­el costs. Af­ter two ques­tions on that, Mooni­lal said he could not say im­me­di­ate­ly and would need to con­firm. The list of names on the del­e­ga­tion in­clud­ed Ash­win Bal­ly, CN­MG re­porter Juhel Browne and Rod­ney David and a team of busi­ness peo­ple at no cost to the Gov­ern­ment, Mooni­lal said.
