The mutilated, charred remains of a woman was found in an unoccupied bungalow on Petrotrin's Pointe-a-Pierre compound yesterday morning.Up to late yesterday police had not identified the woman or determined how she ended up in the bungalow at Carib Valley, Pointe-a-Pierre.The discovery was made shortly after 9 am yesterday following a tip-off from an anonymous caller to the St Margaret's Police Station.
The Marabella Police Station was subsequently informed and a party of officers responded.Police said the body was found in the downstairs of the bungalow, minus the arms. One arm was found in the porch while the other was found on the lawn. The District Medical Officer, who viewed the body, believes the woman had been dead for at least three days. He also suggested the arms might have been ripped off by an animal.
The body was burnt beyond recognition but a woman's silver watch found on one the arms led police to believe it was a female corpse.Police cordoned off the area and conducted a search but no weapons or flammable substances were found. Police yesterday were checking their missing persons report in an attempt to identify the body.Marabella Police are investigating.
