Two men were yes­ter­day grant­ed $90,000 bail each af­ter ap­pear­ing in court on five sep­a­rate rape charges, in San Juan and Mor­vant. Jovon Fras­er, 19, of Bagatelle Road, San Juan, was not called up­on to plead when he ap­peared be­fore Mag­is­trate Mau­reen Ba­boolal-Gafoor in the Port-of-Spain Sev­enth Court. Fras­er, who is un­em­ployed, is charged with the rape and bug­gery of a woman at a lo­ca­tion in San Juan on De­cem­ber 6.

Mean­while, Matthew Bac­quan, of Ci­ca­da Street, Mor­vant, ap­peared in the same court, charged with rap­ing three women, in­clud­ing a 15-year-old girl. Both men were or­dered to re­port to the San Juan and Mor­vant po­lice sta­tions, re­spec­tive­ly, dur­ing their court mat­ters. It was al­leged that the in­ci­dents oc­curred at sep­a­rate lo­ca­tions be­tween Ju­ly and De­cem­ber. Both charges were laid by Cpl David­son of the Barataria CID.

Fras­er was rep­re­sent­ed by at­tor­ney Fa­reed Ali. Both men are ex­pect­ed to reap­pear in court on Jan­u­ary 11, next year.
