Two po­lice con­sta­bles had to seek med­ical at­ten­tion on Thurs­day night af­ter be­ing in­volved in a vi­o­lent al­ter­ca­tion with a man want­ed on rob­bery charges. Re­ports in­di­cate that at 10 pm, a man walked in­to the Ch­agua­nas Po­lice Sta­tion to re­port a rob­bery that had oc­curred min­utes be­fore on the Ch­agua­nas Main Road. In­ves­ti­ga­tors said that while lodg­ing the re­port, the vic­tim al­leged­ly spot­ted his at­tack­er walk­ing near the sta­tion and alert­ed of­fi­cers. WPC Adams and PC Mo­hammed of the Ch­agua­nas Po­lice Sta­tion re­spond­ed and at­tempt­ed to ap­pre­hend the sus­pect.

Po­lice said that the sus­pect, be­lieved to be a mar­tial arts ex­pert, re­tal­i­at­ed and dealt the of­fi­cers sev­er­al blows be­fore at­tempt­ing to flee the scene. A group of of­fi­cers at­tached to the sta­tion re­spond­ed on hear­ing the com­mo­tion and were al­so re­port­ed­ly met with vi­o­lence. But, af­ter sev­er­al min­utes of wran­gling, man­aged to sub­due the sus­pect. Adams and Mo­hammed were rushed to the Ch­agua­nas Health Fa­cil­i­ty where they both re­ceived treat­ment for bro­ken limbs suf­fered in the fra­cas. The sus­pect is ex­pect­ed ap­pear on iden­ti­fi­ca­tion pa­rades lat­er to­day and will ap­pear be­fore a Ch­agua­nas mag­is­trate on Mon­day charged with sev­er­al counts of re­sist­ing ar­rest and as­sault­ing a po­lice of­fi­cer.
