Carib Brew­ery Ltd says it will en­cour­age cus­tomers to serve its prod­ucts in ac­cor­dance with the res­o­lu­tion ap­proved by the Port-of-Spain City Cor­po­ra­tion. On Thurs­day, Port-of-Spain may­or Louis Lee Sing said the cor­po­ra­tion ap­proved a res­o­lu­tion to pro­hib­it the sale of drinks in glass bot­tles from Car­ni­val Fri­day to Tues­day. In re­sponse, the beer com­pa­ny said it will do every­thing pos­si­ble to en­sure that its con­sumers en­joyed their prod­ucts for Car­ni­val.

Lee Sing told the me­dia dur­ing Thurs­day's month­ly statu­to­ry meet­ing at City Hall that those found con­tra­ven­ing the res­o­lu­tion would be fined $1,000 and three months' im­pris­on­ment. A brief state­ment signed by Carib's man­ag­ing di­rec­tor Derek Wad­dell yes­ter­day stat­ed: "Carib Brew­ery will do every­thing pos­si­ble to en­sure that con­sumers en­joy our prod­ucts for Car­ni­val. "We will en­cour­age our cus­tomers to serve prod­ucts with­in the pa­ra­me­ters of the as­pects of the res­o­lu­tion that has been en­act­ed. "We await fur­ther clar­i­fi­ca­tion and in­for­ma­tion from the may­or's of­fice."
