Carib Brewery Ltd says it will encourage customers to serve its products in accordance with the resolution approved by the Port-of-Spain City Corporation. On Thursday, Port-of-Spain mayor Louis Lee Sing said the corporation approved a resolution to prohibit the sale of drinks in glass bottles from Carnival Friday to Tuesday. In response, the beer company said it will do everything possible to ensure that its consumers enjoyed their products for Carnival.

Lee Sing told the media during Thursday’s monthly statutory meeting at City Hall that those found contravening the resolution would be fined $1,000 and three months’ imprisonment. A brief statement signed by Carib’s managing director Derek Waddell yesterday stated: “Carib Brewery will do everything possible to ensure that consumers enjoy our products for Carnival. “We will encourage our customers to serve products within the parameters of the aspects of the resolution that has been enacted. “We await further clarification and information from the mayor’s office.”
