Three res­i­dents of Rio Claro have been de­nied bail on charges of pos­ses­sion of arms and am­mu­ni­tion. Nazam Ali, his rel­a­tive Scott Mar­i­ano-Orosco and neigh­bour In­shan Ali, all of Tabaquite Main Road, Rio Claro, ap­peared be­fore Mag­is­trate An­na Ryan in the Forth (B) Court on Mon­day. Nazam Ali and Mar­i­ano-Orosco were ar­rest­ed at their home over the week­end by of­fi­cers of the Or­gan­ised Crime, Nar­cotics and Firearms Bu­reau (OC­NFB) while al­leged­ly in pos­ses­sion of a loaded Smith and Wes­son .38 re­volved and six rounds of am­mu­ni­tion.

The same group of of­fi­cers, while ex­e­cut­ing a search war­rant, then ar­rest­ed In­shan Ali at his home lo­cat­ed mere me­tres from where Ali and Mar­i­ano-Orosco were ar­rest­ed. It was al­leged that In­shan was in pos­ses­sion of a Rem­ming­ton 16 gauge shot­gun and four 16-gauge car­tridges at the time of his ar­rest. Both mat­ters were ad­journed to to­mor­row and trans­ferred to the Rio Claro Mag­is­trates' Court.
