Judges, get it right on pan finals night

This year’s Panorama semi-finals results have made me realise that judges are apparently selecting bands based on their name, their sponsor and the renown of their arranger. Trinidad All Stars made two very discernible mistakes, Phase II and Silver Stars both suffered for one thing—too much bass. Solo Harmonites played in jumbled-up fashion and did not deserve its placing, and Exodus...well that was very curious. Only the good lord and, I believe, the Government could supply a valid reason why Siparia Deltones is in the finals with the way the band played. It was absolutely plain. Especially ahead of Desperadoes, or Starlift for that matter. In my opinion, Starlift deserved its placing.

As far as I heard, and I heard all the bands on semi-final night, Invaders is one of two bands that should have been awarded a lot more points than they got—the other being Fonclaire. Here’s hoping the judges on finals night get it right.
