All operations and activities involving the Police Service Sports Club have been suspended as the Anti-Corruption Bureau investigates allegations of misappropriation of funds. President of the Police Service Social Welfare Association, Sgt Anand Ramesar, confirmed  operations at the club had been suspended pending an investigation. He said he believed the Anti-Corruption Bureau was conducting an audit of the accounts at the club, located at the Police Barracks, St James.

Ramesar added: “I know they are auditing the books of the sports club. I am not aware of any criminal investigations. “They could have been mandated to perform an audit but there is no allegation of misconduct as far as I am aware.” A source said officers of the Anti-Corruption Bureau visited the club’s administrative office in mid-December and seized all its files. Since then the office has remained closed and all sport club-related activities have been suspended. Ramesar said it was not a usual practice for the Anti-Corruption Bureau to carry out audits.
