Su­san Phillips is the new­ly in­stalled pres­i­dent of the Cana­di­an Women's Club. She is joined by vice pres­i­dent Tri­cia Ng A-Mann and sec­re­tary Kendal Do­her­ty. They were elect­ed for the 2012 ex­ec­u­tive year. A re­lease said: "The con­sti­tu­tion of the club com­pels the de­vo­tion of monies to lo­cal­ly recog­nised char­i­ties and in­di­vid­ual wel­fare cas­es." The out­reach pro­gramme is all en­com­pass­ing and there have been a num­ber of spon­sored char­i­ties.

"Al­though it is the in­ten­tion to pro­vide con­sis­tent an­nu­al as­sis­tance to these caus­es, con­tin­ued re­ceipt and eval­u­a­tion of new ap­peals is en­ter­tained on a reg­u­lar ba­sis," the group stat­ed. Ad­di­tion­al­ly, the group stat­ed that each or­gan­i­sa­tion is mon­i­tored and eval­u­at­ed, in or­der to en­sure ap­pro­pri­ate dis­tri­b­u­tion of the do­nat­ed fi­nan­cial aid to those less for­tu­nate. Cou­pled with char­i­ta­ble events, the club or­gan­is­es so­cial events like tea par­ties.

About the club

It has been in ex­is­tence since 1941, when it was es­tab­lished to help with the war ef­fort. Since then the club has been a wel­come group to Cana­di­an ex­pa­tri­ates and Tri­nis with Cana­di­an con­nec­tions. The group pro­vides a net­work of peo­ple with com­mon in­ter­ests and val­ues. The club meets on the third Wednes­day of each month at The Har­vard Club, St James, at 10 am.
