Susan Phillips is the newly installed president of the Canadian Women's Club. She is joined by vice president Tricia Ng A-Mann and secretary Kendal Doherty. They were elected for the 2012 executive year. A release said: "The constitution of the club compels the devotion of monies to locally recognised charities and individual welfare cases." The outreach programme is all encompassing and there have been a number of sponsored charities.
"Although it is the intention to provide consistent annual assistance to these causes, continued receipt and evaluation of new appeals is entertained on a regular basis," the group stated. Additionally, the group stated that each organisation is monitored and evaluated, in order to ensure appropriate distribution of the donated financial aid to those less fortunate. Coupled with charitable events, the club organises social events like tea parties.
About the club
It has been in existence since 1941, when it was established to help with the war effort. Since then the club has been a welcome group to Canadian expatriates and Trinis with Canadian connections. The group provides a network of people with common interests and values. The club meets on the third Wednesday of each month at The Harvard Club, St James, at 10 am.
