Outpatient sets self ablaze

A 64-year-old mentally ill man is in a critical condition after setting himself on fire outside of his South Oropouche home yesterday morning. Joseph Julien, of St John’s Road, suffered burns to 80 per cent of his body and is warded in the Burns Unit at the San Fernando General Hospital. Police said Julien is an outpatient of the hospital’s psychiatric ward. A police report stated that at around 9 am Julien poured diesel on his body and set himself on fire. Neighbours saw him on fire and alerted his relatives who extinguished the flames. SW
