A LI­AT air­craft sched­uled from Grena­da to Port-of-Spain was de­layed at the Mau­rice Bish­op In­ter­na­tion­al Air­port, Grena­da, on Ash Wednes­day. Min­is­ter of Trans­port De­vant Ma­haraj, as well as Caribbean Air­lines (CAL) chair­man George Nicholas III and man­age­ment re­ceived calls from dis­traught pas­sen­gers. They im­me­di­ate­ly en­sured that af­fect­ed pas­sen­gers were ac­com­mo­dat­ed on flight BW421 from Grena­da to Port-of- Spain.

In a state­ment yes­ter­day, CAL of­fi­cials said their pri­ma­ry con­cern was to en­sure all af­fect­ed pas­sen­gers and their fam­i­lies were re­al­lo­cat­ed. "We would like to re­it­er­ate that Caribbean Air­lines teams are well po­si­tioned to deal with the sit­u­a­tion and Caribbean Air­lines will con­tin­ue to re­lease in­for­ma­tion as it be­comes avail­able," the air­line added.
