Chairman of the Community-based Environmental Protection Enhancement Programme (CEPEP) Adesh Deonarine has showered praises on CEPEP workers for keeping the country clean during Carnival. In a statement yesterday, Deonarine said CEPEP employees, contractors and workers demonstrated their commitment to environmental management by being actively involved in clean-up activities from last Friday to Wednesday.
He said the main parade routes, including Abercromby and St Vincent Streets, and the Queen's Park Savannah were kept free of garbage. He said workers were out in full force to ensure areas were clean. "I am sure everyone understands the ill-effects of garbage being left on the streets amidst celebrations and this very service undertaken by CEPEP should be recognised," Deonarine said. He added that the company remained committed to playing its part in environmental management and through initiatives, such as CEPEP Marine, the company was looking to expand to ensure that the citizenry enjoyed cultural and natural beauty to the fullest.
