A busi­ness­man was among sev­en peo­ple ar­rest­ed yes­ter­day in a joint ex­er­cise by the In­ter Agency Task Force, Port-of-Spain Di­vi­sion, Guard and Emer­gency Branch, K-9 Unit, Stolen Ve­hi­cles Squad, Court and Process Branch and the Crim­i­nal Records Of­fice. The busi­ness­man, own­er of a pop­u­lar casi­no in Port-of-Spain, was de­tained near East­ern Main Road and Quar­ry Road in Laven­tille, af­ter of­fi­cers searched his ve­hi­cle and al­leged­ly found a quan­ti­ty of mar­i­jua­na.

Po­lice al­so is­sued 87 tick­ets for traf­fic of­fences. Yes­ter­day's ex­er­cise, part of a na­tion­wide ini­tia­tive, was head­ed by In­spec­tor Sa­hadeo Singh, of Besson Street Po­lice Sta­tion.
