A businessman was among seven people arrested yesterday in a joint exercise by the Inter Agency Task Force, Port-of-Spain Division, Guard and Emergency Branch, K-9 Unit, Stolen Vehicles Squad, Court and Process Branch and the Criminal Records Office. The businessman, owner of a popular casino in Port-of-Spain, was detained near Eastern Main Road and Quarry Road in Laventille, after officers searched his vehicle and allegedly found a quantity of marijuana.
Police also issued 87 tickets for traffic offences. Yesterday's exercise, part of a nationwide initiative, was headed by Inspector Sahadeo Singh, of Besson Street Police Station.
