UNC chairman Jack Warner is confident that he would be re-elected come March 23 when that party holds its internal elections. Warner, who is also the Chaguanas West MP and Minister of Works and Infrastructure, was speaking yesterday at a career fair at the Mid Centre Mall, Chaguanas.
Warner said he was getting tremendous positive feedback since announcing his intention to contest the position. He said he expects that the electorate would judge him on his actions when they cast their ballots. Today is nomination day, yet Warner said he has only heard rumours about other people who intended to contest the post of chairman.
Couva North MP Ramona Ramdial said she is seeking re-election as elections officer. Ramdial said it is not a hotly contested post as that of the political leader. Chaguanas Mayor Orlando Nagessar said he is backing members of the party. Senator Fazal Karim, who is a member of the elections committee said he expects a smooth election since all systems are in place.
