UNC chair­man Jack Warn­er is con­fi­dent that he would be re-elect­ed come March 23 when that par­ty holds its in­ter­nal elec­tions. Warn­er, who is al­so the Ch­agua­nas West MP and Min­is­ter of Works and In­fra­struc­ture, was speak­ing yes­ter­day at a ca­reer fair at the Mid Cen­tre Mall, Ch­agua­nas.

Warn­er said he was get­ting tremen­dous pos­i­tive feed­back since an­nounc­ing his in­ten­tion to con­test the po­si­tion. He said he ex­pects that the elec­torate would judge him on his ac­tions when they cast their bal­lots. To­day is nom­i­na­tion day, yet Warn­er said he has on­ly heard ru­mours about oth­er peo­ple who in­tend­ed to con­test the post of chair­man.

Cou­va North MP Ra­mona Ram­di­al said she is seek­ing re-elec­tion as elec­tions of­fi­cer. Ram­di­al said it is not a hot­ly con­test­ed post as that of the po­lit­i­cal leader. Ch­agua­nas May­or Or­lan­do Nages­sar said he is back­ing mem­bers of the par­ty. Sen­a­tor Fazal Karim, who is a mem­ber of the elec­tions com­mit­tee said he ex­pects a smooth elec­tion since all sys­tems are in place.
