Technocrats' 56-run win over Cricket Lovers on Sunday, could be rated as one of the biggest comeback wins ever in the history of the T&T Women's Cricket Association League. The shortlived Premiership Division match unfolded at the El Dorado West Secondary School in Tunapuna. The victory gave Technocrats its second win in five matches. Technocrats may have even surprised themselves after batting first and like in the recent matches, reached a small score of 84 all out in a mere 14.1 overs in their round five match.
Cricket Lovers bowlers Pauline Dufeal grabbed 5-30 in her onslaught while Sarah Charles picked up 4-29, to the demise of the reigning champion team which has played unimpressively since their opening round win by nine wickets over Maaad Rangers. Cricket Lovers probably thought they had the match in the bag until Renelle Lutchman and Affy Fletcher unleashed fury on them. Lutchman claimed her own five-wicket haul (5-14) and Fletcher 4-14 as they managed the impossible, bowling out Cricket Lovers for 28 runs in 12.2 overs.
Over at the Pinto Recreation ground in Arima, Spice Girls, led by Annmarie McEwen's unbeaten half-century (54 not out), defeated winless Maaad Rangers by 133 runs. Neither result in Sunday's matches affected leader Moosai Ladies as their match against second-placed Phoenix Women had to be postponed due to a soggy field at Pierre Road. Both Moosai and Pheonix have the same number of points but the former is ahead as it holds a better net run rate.
