An inmate at the Port-of-Spain State Prison was recaptured by police moments after his escape yesterday. Police said the man, who is awaiting trial for larceny, was remanded in custody by a San Fernando magistrate on Tuesday. At around 9.45 am yesterday, two officers from the Port-of-Spain CID were on patrol on Pembroke Street when they received information that a man had jumped over the walls of the prison on Frederick Street.
The officers saw the 18-year-old suspect running near Lord Harris Square. He was held and taken back to the prison.
