The preliminary inquiry into murder charges against seven police officers was adjourned yesterday because forensic reports were not available. Magistrate Debra Quintyne, presiding in the Princes Town First Court, had to adjourn the inquiry after Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Roger Gaspard said he could not start the matter. He said, "We still awaiting-what I would consider two critical reports from the Forensic Science Centre."The seven officers, Cpl Khemraj Sahadeo, Constables Renaldo Reveiro, Glenn Singh, Roger Nicholas, Safraz Juman, Antonio Ramadin and Nicole Clement are charged with the murders of Abigail Johnson, Allana Duncan and Kerron "Fingers" Eccles.
The victims were shot dead at Rochard Douglas Road, Barrackpore on July 22, 2011. Assistant Commissioner of Police Raymond Craig laid the charges. Gaspard told the magistrate that some of the outstanding disclosures in the matter had been made to defence lawyers. However, he said, two reports were still pending. "There has been some movement. I must commend the Director of Forensic Science Centre, Arlette Lewis for that. She has been helpful," he said. Gaspard asked for one more adjournment before a trail date was set. The matter was adjourned to April 19.
