Sheldon Sammy, who celebrated his 29th birthday a week ago and was training for his first bodybuilding competition, was shot and killed outside a Penal gym on Thursday night. Police said at around 8.15 pm, Sammy and a friend were walking toward his car when they were approached by a gunman.
When the man began shooting, Sammy's friend ran off. Sammy, a fabricator, was shot four times. Sammy lived with his parents and three siblings at Pluck Road, San Francique. Relatives described him as a good Christian who never went to parties and never drank alcohol or smoked.
They said Sammy had a passion for bodybuilding and was looking forward to competing in the light-middleweight class of a competition in Penal in November.
