An inmate who escaped from the Port-of-Spain Prison on Frederick Street on Wednesday night was recaptured moments later. Just two weeks ago, another inmate enjoyed a brief taste of freedom after he climbed over the walls of the prison. He was caught moments late by police officers on patrol along Oxford Street.
In the latest incident, at around 6.50 pm, a passers-by told prison officers they saw a man on top the building and he was attempting to jump. He was recaptured minutes later at the corner of Keate and Pembroke Streets by a prisons response team. He was taken to the prison infirmary where he was treated for minor injuries from the jump.
Police said the inmate is serving a seven-year term for housebreaking and larceny.
