An in­mate who es­caped from the Port-of-Spain Prison on Fred­er­ick Street on Wednes­day night was re­cap­tured mo­ments lat­er. Just two weeks ago, an­oth­er in­mate en­joyed a brief taste of free­dom af­ter he climbed over the walls of the prison. He was caught mo­ments late by po­lice of­fi­cers on pa­trol along Ox­ford Street.

In the lat­est in­ci­dent, at around 6.50 pm, a passers-by told prison of­fi­cers they saw a man on top the build­ing and he was at­tempt­ing to jump. He was re­cap­tured min­utes lat­er at the cor­ner of Keate and Pem­broke Streets by a pris­ons re­sponse team. He was tak­en to the prison in­fir­mary where he was treat­ed for mi­nor in­juries from the jump.

Po­lice said the in­mate is serv­ing a sev­en-year term for house­break­ing and lar­ce­ny.
