A 42-year-old Siparia man who is accused of interfering with a three-year-old girl was placed on $50,000 bail yesterday when he appeared in court. Nasir Haniff ws before Siparia First Court Magistrate Joanne Connor charged with serious indecency. Haniff, a labourer, was arrested by PC Naasir Gaffar and charged with committing an act of serious indecency on the toddler on April 13, at his Siparia home.
He was not called upon to plead. Police Prosecutor Sgt Dridgenath Sookraj told the court Haniff had one pending matter for larceny and a conviction for a similar offence. He will reappear in court on May 14. The incident was alleged to have occurred around 5.30 pm last Friday at his Siparia home.
