The fa­ther of Crime Watch host Ian Al­leyne has de­scribed the re­cent ar­rest of his son as "un­savoury and un­for­tu­nate." Bish­op Dave Al­leyne said he felt the po­lice could have han­dled the sit­u­a­tion with some lev­el of sen­si­tiv­i­ty. "I up­hold the law. We are very sup­port­ive of that, but we want to say that things must be done with some lev­el of sen­si­tiv­i­ty. You have to do things the prop­er way."

On Thurs­day, Ian was ar­rest­ed un­der the Sex­u­al Of­fences Act and re­sist­ing ar­rest. Al­leyne re­fused to say if pol­i­tics was the mo­tive be­hind Ian's ar­rest. Al­leyne said he hoped that good will come out of the sit­u­a­tion. Stat­ing that Ian was a bit dis­ap­point­ed by the turn events, Al­leyne said, "He is hurt by it. But with prayer and spir­i­tu­al sup­port he will sur­vive this.

"Ian is not go­ing to buck­le un­der pres­sure." Up to yes­ter­day, Ian was still ward­ed at the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex with high blood pres­sure.
