The father of Crime Watch host Ian Alleyne has described the recent arrest of his son as "unsavoury and unfortunate." Bishop Dave Alleyne said he felt the police could have handled the situation with some level of sensitivity. "I uphold the law. We are very supportive of that, but we want to say that things must be done with some level of sensitivity. You have to do things the proper way."
On Thursday, Ian was arrested under the Sexual Offences Act and resisting arrest. Alleyne refused to say if politics was the motive behind Ian's arrest. Alleyne said he hoped that good will come out of the situation. Stating that Ian was a bit disappointed by the turn events, Alleyne said, "He is hurt by it. But with prayer and spiritual support he will survive this.
"Ian is not going to buckle under pressure." Up to yesterday, Ian was still warded at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex with high blood pressure.
