Quick work by Western Division police on Wednesday night resulted in the arrests of four men shortly after a couple was held up and robbed at gunpoint at a guest house in Maraval. Investigators said around 10.45 pm, a 24-year-old woman of Dundonald Hill, Long Circular, was with a male companion at a guest house on Saddle Road, when they were approached by four men. Reports say the men, armed with a gun, robbed the couple of of cell phones, jewelry and a handbag, which had an undisclosed amount of cash. The men later escaped in a waiting car.
As the victims raised an alarm, officers on patrol in the area intercepted the getaway car on Saddle Road and arrested the suspects. Police were able to recover the stolen items, along with a 9mm pistol and six rounds of 9mm ammunition. The men, whose ages ranges between 16 and 22, are all from Chinapoo Village, Morvant. Senior officers yesterday commended PCs Francis, Richard and WPC O'Brien for their prompt response. The officers also reminded the public to be extra vigilant when out at night and to avoid stopping in areas that are not well lit.
