Leader of Gov­ern­ment busi­ness in the House, Roodal Mooni­lal, is con­fi­dent and con­vinced every­thing will pro­ceed smooth­ly in Par­lia­ment and the Cab­i­net. He said that at yes­ter­day's week­ly Gov­ern­ment me­dia con­fer­ence when asked about his re­cent con­cerns on COP's de­ci­sion not to sup­port leg­is­la­tion in Par­lia­ment. Mooni­lal said Wednes­day's spe­cial Cab­i­net meet­ing on Gov­ern­ment mat­ters start­ed at 2.30 pm on Wednes­day and end­ed around 1 am yes­ter­day. He said the meet­ing was long since it dealt with "the is­sues" and min­is­ters and par­lia­men­tary sec­re­taries had an op­por­tu­ni­ty to speak on mat­ters. De­clin­ing to re­veal de­tails of the meet­ing, Mooni­lal said the Prime Min­is­ter al­ready had spo­ken on Wednes­day and con­cerns had been dealt with in Wednes­day's meet­ing. On the Prime Min­is­ter's state­ment about all min­is­ters sub­scrib­ing to col­lec­tive re­spon­si­bil­i­ty, Mooni­lal said: "Col­lec­tive re­spon­si­bil­i­ty is col­lec­tive re­spon­si­bil­i­ty and it is the re­spon­si­bil­i­ty of all mem­bers of Cab­i­net, re­gard­less of dis­cus­sion and di­ver­gent views, that all mem­bers will com­mit to de­ci­sions tak­en by the Cab­i­net, and mem­bers did, and the Prime Min­is­ter com­mu­ni­cat­ed this (to the me­dia on Wednes­day)."

On in­ter­nal con­flict at the San Fer­nan­do City Cor­po­ra­tion where the COP had called for re­moval of may­or Mar­lene Coudray, Mooni­lal said Gov­ern­ment was aware of some of the is­sues there. He said Lo­cal Gov­ern­ment Min­is­ter, Chan­dresh Shar­ma, was ap­prised of the sit­u­a­tion and would in­ter­vene in a few days to deal with it. Mooni­lal said the Prime Min­is­ter may vis­it the Chancery Lane hos­pi­tal cen­tre this month and may open a cou­ple floors by year-end. He al­so said Gov­ern­ment was of­fer­ing as­sis­tance to projects by Lo­cal Gov­ern­ment bod­ies, schools and com­mu­ni­ty groups, via the $2.4 bil­lion Green Fund. He said so­lar pow­er would be used to pow­er lights be­ing erect­ed near the air­port and along the Pri­or­i­ty Bus Route. Sod-turn­ing for a CNG sta­tion at the Ve­hi­cle Main­te­nance Com­pa­ny of TT (VM­COTT) com­pound, Beetham High­way, would be done to­day, he added.
