Busi­ness­man In­shan Ish­mael says he and his fam­i­ly have re­ceived death threats via text mes­sages on Thurs­day. Ish­mael, in a tele­phone in­ter­view yes­ter­day, said he re­port­ed the mat­ter to the St Joseph Po­lice Sta­tion yes­ter­day morn­ing. He said the po­lice were very pro­fes­sion­al. He said the cy­ber­crime unit was ex­pect­ed to be­gin in­ves­ti­ga­tions in­to the threats im­me­di­ate­ly.

The first threat was sent to Ish­mael's phone at 3.57 pm. It claimed Ish­mael was be­ing un­grate­ful to the Peo­ple's Part­ner­ship (PP) Gov­ern­ment. The sec­ond threat, sent min­utes lat­er, spoke of Ish­mael's chil­dren and his house. The text al­so read in part: "No weapon formed against me shall pros­per."

Ish­mael said the per­son who made the threats "may be a fa­nat­ic of the gov­ern­ment." Ish­mael said he had spent "hun­dreds of thou­sands of dol­lars" to sup­port the PP, but be­cause he ex­posed an al­leged wrong­do­ing he was now be­ing threat­ened.
