Businessman Inshan Ishmael says he and his family have received death threats via text messages on Thursday. Ishmael, in a telephone interview yesterday, said he reported the matter to the St Joseph Police Station yesterday morning. He said the police were very professional. He said the cybercrime unit was expected to begin investigations into the threats immediately.
The first threat was sent to Ishmael's phone at 3.57 pm. It claimed Ishmael was being ungrateful to the People's Partnership (PP) Government. The second threat, sent minutes later, spoke of Ishmael's children and his house. The text also read in part: "No weapon formed against me shall prosper."
Ishmael said the person who made the threats "may be a fanatic of the government." Ishmael said he had spent "hundreds of thousands of dollars" to support the PP, but because he exposed an alleged wrongdoing he was now being threatened.
