Homi­cide of­fi­cers are in­ves­ti­gat­ing the death of a 25-year-old man at Mc­Carthy Street Ex­ten­sion, Can­taro Vil­lage, San­ta Cruz, on Sun­day night. Kelvin Bel­con died af­ter he was felled by a hail of bul­lets. His death brought this year's mur­der toll to 132. Re­ports state around 10.15 pm, Bel­con was lim­ing with a friend, Kelvin Bed­doe, 22, when a white car drove up to them. Two men got out and opened fire on them. The men then jumped back in­to the wait­ing car and es­caped. Bel­con died on the spot while Bed­doe was tak­en to the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex, Mt Hope, for treat­ment. Mean­while, an­oth­er man was shot by a lone gun­man on Sun­day night at Pineview Gar­dens, Mo­hammed Trace, St Au­gus­tine. A re­port said around 7 pm, Shawn Thomp­son, 26, was with sev­er­al friends when a man, who was un­known to him, called out. Res­i­dents re­port­ed hear­ing sev­er­al loud ex­plo­sions and Thomp­son col­lapsed on the ground. He was shot three times in the up­per body, po­lice said. He was tak­en to the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex, where he re­mains ward­ed. Sgt Samuel, PC Weeks and WPC Boyd vis­it­ed the scene. PC Weeks, of the St Joseph Po­lice Sta­tion, is in­ves­ti­gat­ing.

Curepe man stabbed in head

Ku­mar Ram­per­sad, 26, was stabbed yes­ter­day at his Rapsey Street apart­ment, Curepe, and re­mains ward­ed at the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex, Mt Hope. Po­lice said around 1 am, Ram­per­sad ar­rived home and found a man in­side. A strug­gle en­sued and Ram­per­sad was stabbed in his head with a knife. De­tec­tives said the knife blade broke and re­mained lodged in his skull. He was rushed to hos­pi­tal where he is list­ed in a sta­ble but crit­i­cal con­di­tion.

El So­cor­ro ac­ci­dent claims one

An El So­cor­ro res­i­dent was killed on Sun­day night af­ter he was struck by a ve­hi­cle while cross­ing the Churchill-Roo­sevelt High­way, near his Chootoo Lane home. Am­rit Bas­deo, 57, died on the spot, po­lice said. A re­port stat­ed around 8.30 pm, a white Nis­san Wingroad, which was pro­ceed­ing west, col­lid­ed with Bas­deo on reach­ing Chootoo Lane. The road fa­tal­i­ty fig­ure now stands at 37 for the year. San Juan Po­lice are con­tin­u­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions.
