Foreign forensic evidence will form part of the State's case in the 2002 murder of a San Fernando multi-millionaire couple. State attorney Trevor Jones revealed this yesterday when businessman Krishna Rampersad and his former wife Hilda Bullock reappeared in the San Fernando Magistrates' Court.
They are charged with killing Mahase Rampersad and his wife Darling in August 2002 at La Fortune, Woodland. Mahase, 64, was Rampersad's (Krishna) uncle. They appeared before Justice of the Peace Ulrich Kanhai in the First Court because acting Deputy Chief Magistrate Rajendra Rambachan was absent.
Jones said the State would be proceeding by way of paper committal. He said they were awaiting forensic evidence from abroad. Bullock's lawyer, El Farouk Hosein, asked for disclosure. Jones said there was no need to rush disclosure since statements have to be sworn and filed before the matter could proceed. Hosein also held for attorney Subhas Panday who is representing Rampersad. The matter was adjourned to June 6.
